The bass player's complete guide to scales and chords is the subtitle. This extensive book starts out with a few pages of basics and gradually gets more serious covering scales , intervals, technique with lots of study notes clearly explaining each of the musical examples. It is written in standard notation only and quite thoroughly explains through the study ntoes and all the musical examples how to understand scales and intervals. This book is not for a beginner but for intermediate through advanced players. It contains 12 chapters each subdivided into approximately a dozen catagories covering scales of all descriptions. Although there is no tab, there are plenty of neck diagrams to help you along with the fingerings of these scales. This is an excellent book, fresh new concepts. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to expand on his knowledge of scales. Although many scale books are boring, repeating scales each one twelve times for all the different keys, this 278 page book doesn't waste one page. ........... "Joel's book is very well thought out and easy to use. I highly recommend it to teachers and players of ALL levels, You'll be glad you own this book. I am! Thanks Joel" (Victor Wooten, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones)........"Joel has managed to combine many years of experience as a first rate bassist with his highly communicative teaching style. This book will be extremely useful. to both student and teacher for years to come"(John Pattitucci)
